JUDICIAL WATCH SALUTES REPRESENTATIVE BOB BARR FOR HIS YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE
Georgia Congressman Lead Fight to Impeach Former President Clinton and Continues to Serve as Guardian of Individual Liberties and Privacy Rights
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government abuse and corruption, salutes Representative Bob Barr of Georgia for his years of public service to his constituents in Georgia and the people of the United States. Yesterday, Representative Barr lost a tough Republican primary campaign battle between incumbents that were forced to compete for the same territory due to congressional redistricting.
Representative Barr lead the fight in the House of Representatives for the Impeachment of former President Bill Clinton, serving on the House Judiciary Committee and as a House Manager – essentially as a prosecuting attorney – during President Clinton’s trial in the United States Senate. Representative Barr’s keen legal mind, intensity of purpose and strong belief in government accountability contributed enormously to his work in the House of Representatives since he was first elected in 1994.
Representative Barr could always be counted upon by the American people to do what was right, regardless of the consequences. On Capitol Hill and throughout the many halls of government in Washington, DC, Representative Barr stands out as a man of integrity and honor. He is a fearless guardian of individual liberties and privacy rights, and possesses a deep and abiding respect for the Constitution and the rule of law. The American people and the citizens of Georgia owe Bob Barr an enormous debt of gratitude for his tireless work and his deep personal commitment to providing the best representation of their interests in the Congress of the United States.
“While Judicial Watch never makes endorsements of any political candidate, campaign, political party or legislation, we certainly respect and admire the work of Representative Barr, and are proud to have him as a client in his lawsuit against President Clinton, James Carville and Larry Flynt. We are confident that Bob Barr will continue to serve the American people in a variety of new ways, and that he will continue to be a major figure in public policy issues of interest to all Americans,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
