Judicial Watch earned a victory for protestors who were abused on the steps of Anaheim City Hall on December 8, 2001. The protest began as a peaceful expression of First Amendment rights until ultra-leftist counter-demonstrators became physically abusive. Calls for help from the victims were unheeded and Anaheim police officers refused to intervene. As a result of Judicial Watch’s federal civil rights lawsuit on behalf of the protestors, the Anaheim police agreed to adopt a new policy on protecting protestors.
