Judicial Watch Alleges that Reno Justice Department Is Both Incompetent and Engaged in a Massive Cover-Up Of Its Unlawful Acts Larry Klayman, Chairman of Judicial Watch, the public interest group that uncovered the campaign finance scandal and John Huang, and is prosecuting ten other cases against the Clinton Administration, including a "Filegate" class action suit, has filed a new complaint against the Reno Justice Department to uncover evidence of the Clinton Administration's cover-up of the Olympic bombing, Ruby Ridge, Waco and other scandals. Previously Judicial Watch filed suit against the Reno Justice Department, also in federal court, to disclose evidence that the Attorney General was reappointed by Bill Clinton in exchange for her agreement not to name an independent counsel in the campaign finance scandal. This suit has already produced documentation that Reno and DNC Chairman Don Fowler communicated about the Democratic Party's plan to raise $100 million dollars during the 1996 campaign, thus potentially implicating Reno in the scandal, and explaining her continuing refusal to appoint an independent counsel. In filing this new suit, Klayman stated: "Under Janet Reno, the Justice Department, of which I am a former prosecutor, has become politically subverted by the Executive Branch and its own bureaucratic ends. Time in and time out it has either failed to perform its duties, acted negligently, and/or covered up its malfeasance. The lawsuit filed today is designed to get to the bottom of the corruption at the Department, which no longer represents the American people, but simply its own political and other interests. Without an honest and effective law enforcement agency, this country is subject to untold risk and tyranny. The lawsuit will thus expose this corruption and force Reno from office, before permanent damage is inflicted on our great nation. Given Congress’ inaction, Judicial Watch must declare war on its own on behalf of the American people." |
