REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS HAVE CUT DEAL TO SWEEP CAMPAIGN FINANCE SCANDAL UNDER CARPET

Judicial Watch Vows to Fight on as the Lone Ranger; Rejects ‘Bribe’ Offer

As Judicial Watch has been steadfastly predicting, the poor performance of the Thompson Committee has not been accidental. Based on reports this morning, the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee is ‘considering’ shifting its focus to campaign finance reform, rather than pursuing the illegalities in the 1996 elections.

Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman issued the following statement: "It is now clear that Republicans as well as Democrats cannot bear the heat of a thorough and tough investigation. Both parties have likely agreed to cover-up the scandal to avoid indictments and other ramifications to their members. This also explains the lack of real Republican resolve to appoint an independent counsel."

"The American people should be disgusted; but Judicial Watch, the group that uncovered John Huang and the campaign finance scandal, will press on," added Klayman.

Recently, Judicial Watch was offered about two million dollars by Clinton Administration if it would drop its case against the Clinton Commerce Department that uncovered Huang and the campaign finance scandal. Judicial Watch refused.
