ICKES IMPLICATES PRESIDENT IN CLEAR CUT HATCH ACT VIOLATION
TESTIMONY SUFFICIENT TO MANDATE IMMEDIATE APPOINTMENT OF INDEPENDENT COUNSEL
In testimony today, Harold Ickes admitted, under oath, that "the President specifically asked me to handle [the Warren Medoff political solicitation]." This admission implicates the President in a clear-cut violation of the Hatch Act. Larry Klayman, Chairman of Judicial Watch, the group that found John Huang and uncovered the campaign finance scandal, stated: "Ickes has now directly implicated the President in a clear-cut violation of law. Reno now has an irrefutable basis to appoint an independent counsel."
