JUDICIAL WATCH OPENS INVESTIGATION OF CLINTON/ CHINA NUCLEAR DEAL

Several American Nuclear Providers Went On Brown/Huang Commerce Trade Mission To China And May Have Paid For Clinton Administration Approval

Judicial Watch, the group that uncovered John Huang and the campaign finance scandal in its case against the Clinton Commerce Department, today opened an investigation into the Clinton Administration's decision to sell U.S. nuclear technology to China. "The circumstances of the deal are suspicious and may be related to the Clinton fundraising scandal", stated Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman.

Klayman added, "During the Brown trade mission to China - where the Clinton Administration brokered an energy joint venture for John Huang's Lippo Group, Entergy Corporation and the Chinese government - many U.S. nuclear energy suppliers were also present, including Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Several of these companies donated money to the 1996 Clinton/Gore campaign and Democratic National Committee, not only to procure seats on the trade mission, but perhaps to secure Clinton Administration approval to sell nuclear technology to China. This raises the specter that U.S. national security interests have been sold and compromised for campaign contributions. The sale of nuclear technology to China - a significant future military threat to the United States and the world - is something which should not be entrusted to the Clinton Administration, particularly while the campaign fundraising scandal is still unfolding."

Larry Klayman and Judicial Watch calls upon all interested and concerned parties, including the media, to join it in investigating this important decision to sell nuclear equipment and technology to China.
