THOMPSON DECISION TO SHUT DOWN FINANCE HEARINGS SHOWS REPUBLICANS ARE PART OF ATTEMPTED BI-PARTISAN COVERUP

Judicial Watch Predicted From Day One That Hearings Were Compromised

Senator Thompson announced today that the Senate Government Affairs Committee's hearings are closed. Having spent the last several months on "side issues," like coffees and telephone calls from the White House, and virtually ignoring the sale of services, goods and influence to foreign powers, such as China, it was clear from the start that both political parties find the campaign finance hearings too hot to handle.

"Indeed, most of the members of the Senate Government Affairs Committee have fundraising skeletons of their own (which Judicial Watch is investigating). It is no wonder that Republicans - when confronted with threats of ‘mutual assured destruction' - cut and ran," said Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman. "This does not serve the interests of the American people for honest government, but it does serve the reelection concerns of the Senators," added Klayman.
