RENO HEARING A BUST BURTON COMMITTEE FOLLOWS PREVIOUS HYDE COMMITTEE COP-OUT

"Republicans Literally Out To Lunch During Reno's Appearance"

Today, Janet Reno, was called before the House Government Reform & Oversight Committee to answer for her failure to appoint an independent counsel. Larry Klayman, Chairman of Judicial Watch, the group that deposed John Huang and uncovered the campaign finance scandal, issued the following statement:

"With the exception of Chairman Burton, the Republicans on the Committee treated Reno with ‘kid gloves.' Are these ‘absent' Republicans afraid of something, or are they just ‘out to lunch?' Indeed, the latter may also be true, as few were in the hearing from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. Apparently feeding themselves is more important than hearing why Janet Reno has failed to appoint an independent counsel, while key witnesses have left the country and destroyed evidence."
