CLINTON'S REFUSAL TO FIRE MAGAZINER CONFIRMS THAT LIES WERE GENERATED AT THE TOP

Last Week's Washington Post Editorial Misses The Mark

In Last Five Years, Lying and Deceit Routine At White House

Today, President Clinton will issue a statement praising the service of Ira Magaziner, and refusing to fire him, as had been requested by Representative Bill Archer. Archer's demand, obviously designed to smoke out the real "culprits" in this tale of lies and deceit concerning the Hillary Clinton Medical Task Force, accomplished its purpose; it confirmed that the falsities were generated by the Clintons themselves.

In response, Larry Klayman, Chairman of Judicial Watch, the group that found John Huang, sparked the current campaign finance scandal, and is prosecuting a class action suit concerning "Filegate," issued this statement.

"President Clinton was ironically correct not to fire Ira Magaziner, for not only is this punishment insufficient, he and the First Lady must themselves accept the responsibility for the perjury which was committed. This conduct was part of a pattern of lies, deceit and criminality in The White House, for which Clinton must now be impeached and prosecuted criminally. The mere firing of Magaziner would send the wrong signal; that the buck no longer stops at the President's desk."

Those, such as The Washington Post editorial page, which seek to diminish the importance of not lying, by claiming that Magaziner was 'let off the hook' by Eric Holder -- himself a political Clinton appointee who aspires to the Supreme Court and whose lawyers at the U.S. Attorney's Office were sanctioned in Judicial Watch's cases against the Clinton Administration -- are doing a grave disservice to the country. For unless there is ethics and honesty in The White House, a bad example will continue to be set for the rest of the country, including the nation's youth which, with each successive generation, slips more and more into moral decline. The lack of concern for ethics by our other leaders -- including Speaker Newt Gingrich and Majority Leader Trent Lott -- also places the future of America at great risk. A great society cannot continue to exist without ethical and moral underpinnings, no matter how prosperous it currently may be."
