Dolly Kyle Browning was to testify at Impeachment hearing today

JUDICIAL WATCH NEWS CONFERENCE 2:15 P.M., TODAY

Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman will hold a news conference at which he will deliver his informed analysis of how the House Judiciary Committee fell far short of making a strong case for impeachment, because it failed to call any material witnesses, as the Democrats have aptly noted.

Judiciary Committee investigators interviewed Dolly Kyle Browning, who has known the President since they were children in Hot Springs, Arkansas. At his deposition in the Paula Jones case, Clinton lied about Mrs. Browning and about his relationship with her. Judiciary Chairman Henry Hyde’s staff investigated her claims and possesses affidavits from at least four witnesses that confirm that the President lied under oath.

Mrs. Browning was brought yesterday to Washington, D.C. to testify at the urging of the Judiciary Committee’s staff, including David Schippers. They were overruled by the Committee’s leadership at the last minute, and she was denied the opportunity to testify. Mrs. Browning remains in Washington at this time.

"This half-hearted attempt to impeach the President will fail, because the House Republicans want it to fail," Klayman said. "Throughout these proceedings the Republicans have only created the appearance of a serious impeachment inquiry to try to head off a conservative revolt in their party. By focusing solely on the Lewinsky sex scandal and ignoring the real Clinton crimes of threatening women,‘Chinagate,’ ‘Filegate,’ and ‘IRS-gate,’ they have purposely presented a weak case, so they can clear impeachment and conviction from their docket in time for the new Speaker’s term."

The news conference will take place on Thursday, December 10, 1998, at 2:15 p.m. on the front steps of the E. Barrett Prettyman U.S. District Courthouse, located at 3rd Street and Constitution Avenue.
