Charlie Trie returns as Clinton sets up new legal defense fund with DNC fundraiser McAuliffe

Judicial Watch will again challenge illegal influence peddling scheme

Ironically, on the day that Charlie Trie made his "grand entrance" into the country, the Clintons have announced a new legal defense fund, this one to be chaired by criminally investigated DNC fundraiser Terry McAuliffe. Judicial Watch, the group that uncovered John Huang and sparked the campaign finance scandal, and who brought a lawsuit against the advisory committee which appointed Charlie Trie to oversee U.S.- Asian trade policy (for which Trie received a security clearance), today vowed to challenge the new legal defense fund, as it had the earlier Presidential Legal Defense Trust.

Larry Klayman, Chairman of Judicial Watch, called on the Clintons to pay their own legal fees, without opening up their accounts to influence peddlers, such as Trie. As also unexpectedly endorsed by Dick Morris, Klayman added that the Clintons should borrow the money for their fees at market rates, from reputable banks, and pay it back when they leave office. Contrary to popular belief, the Clintons are already millionaires, have not spent one penny on legal fees thus far (nor have they paid taxes on contributions), and will be multi-millionaires once they leave office thanks to book deals and other engagements. They can clearly get a loan under these circumstances.

Finally, the reentry of Trie signals that Reno has already cut a sweetheart deal with him, allowing him to plead to lesser charges, as was recently true of the sham pleas with Michael Brown and Nora, Tricia and Gene Lum. By pleading Trie out quickly, Reno can avoid squeezing all of the truth out of him and hastening the fall of her own Administration.
