Rep. Bob Barr, David Schippers, Joseph Duggan & RNC Chairman Jim Nicholson Laud Judicial Watch

Schippers Convinced FBI Files Were Used to Blackmail Congressional Members

(Washington, D.C.) On Saturday's edition of The Judicial Watch Report, hosts Larry Klayman and Tom Fitton were joined by special guests, U.S. Rep. Bob Barr (R-GA), former lead counsel for the House Impeachment Trial, David Schippers, Esq., RNC Chairman Jim Nicholson and Judicial Watch clients Joseph Duggan and Dolly Kyle Browning.

In the first hour, David Schippers, former lead counsel for the House Managers during the impeachment trial, gave his opinion why they failed to look into the Filegate matter. "I am disappointed that we weren't able to get into Filegate and I'll tell you why...I am convinced that one of the reasons we were not able to get our trial in the Senate was because some of the material in Filegate was used...shall we say.... to coerce some of the members [of Congress]," Schippers said today on The Judicial Watch Report. "People come to me and say ‘my God, where do we turn, what do we do?' and I say there's a group in Washington who are still fighting the same battles we fought, it's an uphill fight, but they are there..., they're honorable and they know what they're doing. It's vital to keep [Judicial Watch] going."

In the second hour, Joseph Duggan, former speech writer for President Bush and a victim of Filegate joined the Judicial Watch Report to express his opinion that the Independent Counsel did not adequately investigate the scandal. Also, Congressman Bob Barr (R-GA) and RNC Chairman Jim Nicholson discussed the Independent Counsel's report on Filegate and the corruption of the Clinton-Gore White House. "I really respect what you all are doing," said Nicholson. "The Department of Justice has been the ‘Department of Obstruction and Cover-Up.' We owe you a big debt...both Larry, Tom and Judicial Watch for what you have done to try to see that the people's interests have been represented." Congressman Bob Barr toasted Judicial Watch for its investigations into government corruption. "Seventy-five to eighty percent of what we know, in terms of the facts of the corruption by the Clinton Administration, we know because of Judicial Watch and its activism in our legal system," said Barr. "[Judicial Watch] has accomplished more in five years than most national organizations can accomplish in fifty." Finally, Judicial Watch client, Dolly Kyle Browning, discussed her pursuit to have President Clinton held accountable for criminal contempt of court. DNC Chairman Ed Rendell was invited to appear next week on The Judicial Watch Report.
