CLINTON APPOINTEE DISQUALIFIES HIMSELF FROM FLOWERS' LAWSUIT

Action Against James Carville, George Stephanopoulos, And Hillary Rodham Clinton

(Washington, D.C.) In an act of integrity, Clinton appointee, the Honorable David W. Hagen of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, has disqualified himself from sitting on a lawsuit filed by Gennifer Flowers against James Carville, George Stephanopoulos, and Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The lawsuit concerns allegations that James Carville and George Stephanopoulos defamed Ms. Flowers, and that Hillary Rodham Clinton not only participated in this defamation, but also violated Ms. Flowers' privacy rights.

The Order of Judge Hagen states:
To avoid the appearance of impropriety, this action is submitted to Chief Judge Howard D. McKibben for reassignment.
"Judicial Watch salutes Judge Hagen for doing the right thing by disqualifying himself from sitting on a case involving the President and Mrs. Clinton, and their allies. Few judges have taken such correct and bold steps to preserve the appearance of justice in the various lawsuits that have been filed against the Clintons," stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.

"It goes without saying that any judge appointed by President Clinton sitting on a matter which involves him or Mrs. Clinton should step aside without being asked. Indeed, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals behaved similarly in the Jones v. Clinton case. It is heartening to see judges doing the right thing in the interest of justice," added Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
