Pentagon Inspector General Concludes Tripp Privacy Rights Violated DEFENSE SECRETARY WILLIAM COHEN IMPLICATED IN VIOLATIONS OF LAW (Washington, DC) Today, coming on the heels of the Maryland state prosecutor's dropping criminal claims against Linda Tripp, the Pentagon Inspector General confirmed the prior finding of United States District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth in Judicial Watch's $90-million Filegate class-action lawsuit by holding that Clinton Administration officials and employees, Kenneth Bacon and Clifford Bernath, had violated the Privacy Act by releasing information from Linda Tripp's personnel file in order to smear her. In recent weeks, Clinton-Gore operatives and others have also been trying to smear Judge Lamberth for his courageous findings by upholding the privacy rights of American citizens in Judicial Watch's Filegate lawsuit. Specifically, in addition to the Tripp issue, Judge Lamberth found that the privacy rights of Kathleen Willey were violated by President Clinton and others. Based upon sworn interrogatory responses from the Clinton-Gore White House, Hillary Clinton assisted the President in violating the law. Importantly, the response of Defense Secretary William Cohen to today's finding of the Pentagon Inspector General was to defend Bacon and Bernath. "This is not surprising, since Judicial Watch has evidence that Defense Secretary William Cohen himself was likely involved in the illegal release of Linda Tripp's Pentagon file information.
