FRIGHTENED REPUBLICANS!

Too Scared To Call For Richardson's Resignation

Where is the Honor? Even European Countries Would Require Removal

(Washington, DC) With the continuing breaches of national security at Los Alamos Laboratories, the faint-hearted wonders of the Republican Party -- always fearful of retaliation against their members by the Clinton-Gore smear machine -- have conspicuously not called for the resignation of Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson. This silence comes despite his involvement as the person who attempted to "grease" the palms (i.e., bribe) of Monica Lewinsky by offering her a position at the United Nations at a time when President Clinton was headed toward impeachment. In addition, Richardson has largely covered up breaches of national security at the lab, such as when he failed to take immediate action concerning Wen Ho Lee. This latest episode of what at best amounts to gross negligence would require any government official, with any degree of integrity or conscience, to resign. Indeed, such a resignation would have already occurred in any Western European democracy. That Republicans have not even mentioned resignation to restore even a semblance of integrity to the Department of Energy, speaks volumes of their own defensiveness and fear that the Clinton-Gore Administration will once again seek to destroy some of their members.

"The failure of the politicians to hold Richardson accountable, does not serve the interests of the American people. Our national security has again been compromised and as Harry Truman said: ‘The buck [stops at the top],'" stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
