MEXICO'S FOX TO CURB CORRUPTION

However, Big Mistake Would Be To Base Solution On American Justice System

(Washington, D.C.) The new President-elect of Mexico, Vicente Fox, has admirably announced his intention to clean up government corruption in Mexico. But, regrettably, The Washington Post revealed today in its lead story that he will use ". . . a U.S.-style system of checks and balances to curb corruption."

"While Mexico seeks to curb corruption, it is running out of control in the United States. If President-elect Fox really wants to make a difference, he should implement a system whereby the Mexican Ministry of Justice does not operate under the arm of the Executive Branch, as is true in the American system. This would result in the continued subversion of investigations of the Executive Branch, as has been demonstrated by the Clinton-Gore years," stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.

"Judicial Watch stands ready and able to help President-elect Fox should he desire consultation in developing a new justice system that actually works against corrupt politicians. In short, Mexico could use its own Judicial Watch," added Judicial Watch President Thomas Fitton.
