"THE INTERNATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT"

From America's Danforth to German Leaders, Establishment Scratches Its Own Back In Covering Up Scandal

(Washington, D.C.) Over the weekend, it was confirmed that the "International Establishment" takes care of itself.

First, there was Senator John Danforth -- who admittedly issued his incomplete Waco report to clear the way for his consideration as George W. Bush's Vice Presidential running mate. With "100 percent certainty" -- a confidence only reserved for God -- Senator Danforth avoided controversy by dismissing the Waco investigation in time for his possible selection, and incredibly exonerated Attorney General Janet Reno, the FBI, ATF, and others of wrongdoing. His report, sadly, is similar to a wronged wife who catches her husband in bed with another woman, only to have him deny that there is another woman in the bed. The eyes of the American people saw the Waco debacle and, while one can quibble over the degree of guilt, there is no question that Reno and her co-actors were, at a minimum, negligent. Accordingly, for Senator Danforth to totally exonerate these individuals and agencies, simply unmasks his own political aspirations and underscores how the Establishment "circles the wagons" to protect itself.

Second, news emanated from Germany that former Chancellor Helmut Kohl, who is eclipsed in his criminality only by the Clinton-Gore Administration when it comes to laundering campaign finance money -- has been let "off the hook" by his fellow leaders in both major political parties, with a $96,000 "slap on the wrist" fine. This punishment is reminiscent of the similarly minor sanction levied against President Bill Clinton by Judge Susan Weber-Wright. Ironically, however, Bill Clinton has failed to pay any price for his campaign finance and Chinagate crimes -- proving that even the Germans have a greater degree of concern for justice than most "leaders" in this country.

"Judicial Watch salutes ordinary men and women who believe in justice and want to do something about the rampant government corruption throughout the world. Politicians of all nations think that they are above their people, and they can play their citizens for fools. Judicial Watch will do its part to ensure that the political class is held accountable for its cynical, manipulative, and self-serving abuse of power. While surely there are good politicians and government officials, regrettably they are few and far between. By bringing those who violate the public trust to the bar, we can help ensure a better government in the future," stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
