Orthodox Rabbi Critiques Sen. Joe Lieberman

Klayman and Fitton Discuss Bush-Cheney's "Flip-Flops" on Government Ethics

(Washington, D.C.) On this week's edition of The Judicial Watch Report hosts Larry Klayman and Tom Fitton were joined by Rabbi Nachum Shifren and San Diego talk show host Mark Larson.

Rabbi Shifren, known as the "Surfing Rabbi, explained why Sen. Lieberman doesn't represent orthodox jews in the war against immorality and government corruption. "I have to question his alignment with absolutely the worst enemy- in terms of American administrations- that the Jewish people have faced," said Shifren. He added, "I have no idea why [Lieberman] agreed to align himself with the Gore [campaign]. It's clear that the Machiavellian way in which he was designated by Gore was only to offset the tremendous moral interpitudes done by the Clinton-Gore Administration." Host Larry Klayman asked, "do orthodox Jews believe in abortion?" Shifren replied, "Absolutely not! I have no idea what is going through his mind. This abortion thing is absolutely outrageous!" Shifren commented on his controversial support for presidential candidate Pat Buchanan. "I'm kind of a rebel...I see Pat Buchanan's views as the hope for this country. I believe he tells the truth. I am going to support him...and I do so with a great amount of pressure placed on myself and my family." On U.S.-backed financial aide to Israel, Shifren says Israel should stand alone with no outside assistance. "As long as Israel is connected with some financial umbilical cord to the United States, there will never be autonomy for the Jewish state," said Shifren. "I am for an absolute, total cutting off of all aid to Israel. Let Israel stand by itself."

Hosts Larry Klayman and Tom Fitton sounded off about G.W. Bush's statement last Friday that Al Gore could restore honor and integrity to the White House. "This is the establishment scratching each other's backs; that is so worried if they start to be critical, that things are going to come out of the closet concerning them," said Klayman. Fitton added, "they want to have it both ways. [Bush and Cheney] make these mild criticisms of Al Gore and Bill Clinton and they want to fill both wings of the Republican party. Either way, it's dishonest."
