JUDICIAL WATCH TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGED LAWYER COVERUP OF FIRESTONE TIRE TRAGEDY

Public Interest Watchdog To Increasingly Become “The Anti-Corrupt Lawyer-Judge Group”

Legal Profession “Aided and Abetted” The Clinton-Gore Scandals

(Washington, DC) In July of 1994, Judicial Watch was founded to not only be a watchdog over government corruption, but to police the legal profession concerning its improprieties. It has become clear that many lawyers and judges are frequently the root cause of government corruption, since they further crimes committed by politicians and others through either their nonfeasance or malfeasance. In addition, bar associations rarely, if ever, will discipline “fat cat” lawyers; those who work for big or well-connected law firms or companies and wield large political influence. A good example was Clarke Clifford, the previous Washington icon of the legal profession and Chairman of First American Bank, who was caught red-handed stealing money from First American Bank shareholders, but yet was never disciplined by the Bar. Because of the wholesale corruption in the Clinton-Gore Administration, Judicial Watch has had to dedicate its resources over the last 7-1/2 years to bringing lawsuits over Chinagate, Travelgate, Filegate, IRSgate, E-mailgate, among others. It has also pursued lawsuits concerning Republicans, such as Senator Orrin Hatch and New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and others. However, as we move into the new millennium, Judicial Watch will increasingly dedicate its resources to fighting the pervasive corruption in the legal profession and judiciary.

“It has recently been alleged that lawyers for Bridgestone/Firestone Tire and Rubber Company counseled the company to cover up the fatal defects in their Wilderness tires. Judicial Watch does not know whether this allegation is true or not, but it will investigate to get to the bottom of the matter and pursue appropriate legal remedies if necessary. I’ve seen too many lawyers, over my 23-year career as a lawyer, ‘aid and abet’ their client’s crimes and improprieties,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.

“Let the word go out to the legal profession – which has also recently been shown to have played a major role in covering up the unfolding Clinton-Gore E-mail scandal – that you are not above the law,” added Klayman.
