CALL TO ACTION -Judicial Watch Presidential Debate On Government Ethics

URGENT REQUEST

September 15, 2000

Re: Judicial Watch Election 2000 Presidential Debate on Government Ethics.

Dear Judicial Watch Supporter and/or Subscriber:

Judicial Watch has invited all the Presidential candidates to debate at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2000 in the Amphitheater of the Ronald Reagan Building. The debate will be nationally televised, and is quite unique since the issues discussed will concern “How To Restore Ethics To Government?” As you know, candidates are generally hesitant to discuss this issue, since pointing out the weaknesses of one’s opponent can give rise to countercharges.

But, bringing back ethics to government is not a political game, and this is why public discussion and education is very important. Thus far, every Presidential candidate except George W. Bush has stated that he will appear. Incredibly, this includes Al Gore. George W. Bush’s staff says that they would like to appear, but we have not as yet received written confirmation.

To ensure that George W. Bush does comes to our debate, it might be fruitful to e-mail or fax him at the following addresses to show him how much you want him to address these issues for the benefit of educating the American people on why ethics in government is important. We have included the Republican National Committee’s numbers as well.

As always, thank you for your support. Judicial Watch is nonpartisan, and believes that a debate on the issue of ethics in government will benefit the American people to ensure a strong and ethical nation for our children.
