ZERO FOR THREE!

Presidential Debate Commission “Debates” Strike Out on Issue Of Government Ethics

Bush/Gore Avoid Any Discussion For Fear That The Other Will Unleash Ethics Attack

(Washington, DC) Yesterday’s Presidential debate was confirmation of an article written by Peter Baker of The Washington Post of October 17, 2000 that both major political candidates do not want to discuss ethics issues based on a “conspiracy of silence.” In the three debates in which Vice President Albert Gore and Texas Governor George W. Bush participated, only one debate made even a passing reference to ethics (the first debate) and this occurred only at the end of the evening.

Judicial Watch’s Ethics in Government 2000 Conference and Presidential Debate set for this Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. in the Ronald Reagan Amphitheater will not ignore the important issue of restoring ethics to our government. Moderated by Jim Bohannon, the renowned radio commentator of Westwood One, with panelists Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily.com, Paul Rodriguez of Insight Magazine, Ellen Ratner of FOX News Channel, Blanquita Cullum of Radio America, and Armstrong Williams (nationally-syndicated columnist and radio host) may ask questions which include, but are not limited to, issues involving the Clinton-Gore scandals, the end of the independent counsel law, whether the Justice Department should be placed under another branch of government to enforce the law against its executive branch, and other important issues.

“Ancient Rome and other great civilizations all ceased to exist when their ethics and moral fiber crumbled. Based on the refusal of Vice President Gore and Governor George W. Bush to discuss these issues, is America on a similar course of self destruction? Judicial Watch’s debate will help answer this question,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
