Judicial Watch Filed Complaint to Obtain Underlying Documents Showing “Payoff” to California Politicians, Including Governors Davis and Wilson (Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, Inc., the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government abuse and corruption, filed suit against California Governor Gray Davis over his refusal to provide documentation concerning the California energy crisis, including alleged “political payoffs” of California politicians, including Davis himself, and former Governor Wilson, by large electric utilities. Arianna Huffington wrote about this in her January 25, 2001 column entitled “Gray Davis: The Failure Of Power,” in which she alleged that political bribes likely played a role in the regulatory decisions in California which led to an energy disaster. Judicial Watch, the group which uncovered (according to Congressman Bob Barr) over 90 percent of the corruption during the Clinton-Gore years, and which recently filed an ethics complaint against Senator Hillary Clinton for alleged bribery over the Marc Rich and other pardons (see www.JudicialWatch.org), will, through its office in San Marino, California, and its hundreds of thousands of supporters throughout the state, vigorously and aggressively prosecute politicians such as Governor Davis, and his predecessor Governor Pete Wilson, who wilfully, grossly, and negligently relegated the people to a state of the “Dark Ages.” “California, here we come. After taking care of the Clintons, the corruption in California is among our highest priorities,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman. “The politicians in California think they’re untouchable. Judicial Watch will remind them that ‘no one is above the law!’” added Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. |
