Judicial Watch Sues FEC
On August 21, Judicial Watch sued the Federal Election Commission-an agency evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats-over its failure to investigate Congressman Tom DeLay's, and the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee's, sale of access to officials in the Bush Administration.
Judicial Watch filed an official complaint more than three months ago. Under the law, the FEC has 120 days to take action on a complaint. When they failed to do so, Judicial Watch had no choice but to file suit.
"It is mind boggling that the one agency charged with upholding campaign finance laws has chosen to ignore blatant instances of abuse," said JW President Tom Fitton. "Judicial Watch will pierce through the Republican/Democrat complicity in covering up their own misdeeds."
To date, both the Justice Department and the FEC have failed to stand up for the law. Judicial Watch remains the only organization looking out for the public interests with respect to corruption.
