Bellows Report Exonerates Notra Trulock
Judicial Watch Wins Battle Against Government to Release Report to the Public

A report by Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy Bellows proves what JW client Notra Trulock has been saying for more than three years-Wen Ho Lee was never targeted for investigation because of his race. The Lee investigation "had many serious problems. Racism was not among them," Bellows concludes.

Portions of the 800-page report were publicly released on August 13 as a result of Judicial Watch's defamation lawsuit against Lee and others on behalf of Notra Trulock, the man who uncovered massive breaches in national security at Los Alamos Laboratory. The government tried to suppress the "top secret" report, but Judicial Watch's efforts caused a federal court to order the government to release it.

"It's little wonder the federal government tried to keep this report hidden from public view," said JW Chairman Larry Klayman. "Thanks to Judicial Watch, however, it is now clear to the American people that the FBI is an embarrassment."

After U.S. nuclear secrets from Los Alamos laboratory were allegedly transferred to the Communist Chinese, Wen Ho Lee became the subject of an investigation leading ultimately to his dismissal in 1999. From the very beginning Lee falsely accused Trulock, who was Director of Security, of organizing a racial witch hunt in an effort to divert attention away from his criminal behavior. Adding injury to insult, Mr. Trulock later had his home vandalized and his property seized by the FBI because he was critical of its top officials. His dog was also injured in the raid of his home.

Prosecutors eventually struck a "slap on the wrist" deal with Lee. He pled guilty to a single felony charge of mishandling nuclear secrets and spent nine months in jail. In exchange, prosecutors dropped 58 other counts.

"Now that Notra Trulock has been exonerated, it's time to pursue justice against those, including Dr. Wen Ho Lee and his agents, who shamelessly used the race card to mask their own guilt," said JW Chairman Larry Klayman. "Lee is an admitted criminal who compromised U.S. national security and he should not be allowed to profit from his actions."
