JOSE BASULTO HONORED BY JUDICIAL WATCH

October 5-6, Judicial Watch held its Ethics in Government 2001 International Conference in Miami, Florida (see page six).

Lovers of freedom from around the globe gathered for one purpose: to foster freedom and preserve democracy worldwide.

In addition to laying the foundation for a strategy to eradicate corruption around the globe, JW also celebrated those who have fought courageously against the forces of tyranny.

One hero honored was Jose Basulto, founder of Brothers to the Rescue, who received Judicial Watch's "Freedom Award."

Mr. Basulto was the sole survivor of an attack in 1996 by Castro's Air Force. Mr. Basulto was attempting to save rafters fleeing Castro's Cuba for the promise of freedom in America when two of his three planes were shot down. Four pilots were lost.

Now, with the help of JW, Mr. Basulto seeks justice. He is a key plaintiff in Judicial Watch's efforts to indict Castro for his various crimes against humanity.
