Bill Clinton left office the way he came in—under scandal and suspicion. At issue in the waning days of his Administra-tion were a number of questionable pardons, including one for fugitive billionaire Marc Rich, whose ex-wife is a well-known contributor to the Clintons.
Now, with the retirement of reigning U.S. attorney Mary Jo White, the official currently in charge of the Pardongate probe, the person to continue the investigation will be handpicked by Hillary Clinton herself.
According to Roll Call magazine, a new policy regarding the nomination of individuals to U.S. attorneys offices instituted by Vermont Democrat Pat Leahy, “effectively gives Clinton the ability to reject… any nominee to take over the office that is handling the investigation into her and her husband.”
Rumored to be on Hillary’s short list of candidates for the job? Robert Ray who, while serving as independent counsel, botched his investigations into the Clinton Administration’s crimes and let the Clintons off the hook.
