Former President George Bush is retained by the Carlyle Group, a company that has worked for the bin Laden family business in Saudi Arabia. In fact, the senior Bush has met twice with family members of bin Laden.
While the Carlyle Group recently cut ties to the bin Laden family business under heavy pressure from JW and others, the company still maintains close ties to the Saudi Arabian government and to the highest levels of the U.S. government (JW has uncovered correspondence between Carlyle Group representatives and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld).
These relationships could pose a potential conflict of interest for the junior Bush as he continues to hammer out his foreign policy in the Middle East. Would George W. Bush treat Saudia Arabia with “kid gloves” due to his father’s relationship to the government? The fact that the question can even be asked is reason enough for the George Bush Senior to leave the Carlyle Group altogether.
Judicial Watch believes the senior Bush should resign from the Carlyle Group so as to not distract his son from the war on terrorism.
