On November 21st, Judicial Watch delivered a strong message to the Justice Department in the form of nearly 60,000 petitions protesting Bill and Hillary Clinton’s illegal fundraising practices in its ongoing case on behalf of Peter Paul. Below is an excerpt from the Justice Department’s response:
“Your petition alleges improprieties in fund-raising undertaken by former President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton for Mrs. Clinton’s 2000 Senate campaign. In that you have made allegations of this nature, your petition is being forwarded to the Public Integrity Section of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. That office is charged with reviewing allegations associated with election and campaign finance improprieties.”
Judicial Watch would like to thank all of its supporters who contributed to the petition drive. Judicial Watch will continue to pressure the Justice Department to criminally prosecute Hillary and Bill Clinton.
Bush Backs Convicted Felon Lee
The Bush Justice Department claims that allowing Notra Trulock’s case to proceed against convicted felon Wen Ho Lee would violate national security. And yet, the Administration seems not at all concerned about finding the truth about the biggest breach of nuclear security in our nation’s history.
Just days before Mr. Trulock’s defamation lawsuit against Lee was to go to trial, the Bush Justice Department intervened, asking the court to drop the case. The lower court granted the Administration’s request, letting Lee, who still cannot account for the nuclear secrets he downloaded onto his computer, off the hook.
Judicial Watch is appealing the lower court’s decision and expects to prevail. A separate Judicial Watch case on behalf of Mr. Trulock’s against FBI Director Louis Freeh was also thrown out by a lower court before being reinstated. This case is currently proceeding.
Jackson Slapped With Civil Rights Complaint
Judicial Watch now has Jesse Jackson’s autograph. Jackson signed his name to a legal document certifying his receipt of a Judicial Watch complaint against him. Jackson was personally served with the complaint via certified mail on January 28. Now, he is one step closer to accountability for violating the rights of conservative civil rights activist Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson.
Jackson, along with his son Jonathan and television personality “Judge” Gregory Mathis, allegedly assaulted and threatened Reverend Peterson at an L.A. civic event. Reverend Peterson spoke out against Jackson at the event. For speaking his mind, Reverend Peterson was allegedly shoved by Jackson’s son Jonathan and called the “n” word, while Judge Mathis shouted at him to leave, “before you get your [expletive] kicked.” The Reverend Jackson, who allegedly participated in the assault, could allegedly be heard screaming for someone to “get his [expletive] out of here!”
Judicial Watch filed suit on December 16 in California State Court. When the case does go to trial, which should occur within the year, Jackson will be forced to answer for his crimes in front of a national audience as cameras are allowed in California courtrooms.
“It will be most instructive for the public to see the real Jesse Jackson defend himself and be brought to justice,” said JW Chairman Larry Klayman.
