Defense Department Engineer Blows Whistle on Clinton's Illegal Tech Transfers Carlet Auguste, a former employee of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency during the Clinton-Gore Administration, warned supervisors that sensitive satellite and missile technology was improperly being transferred to foreign governments. This technology could, in his opinion, be used by these governments to develop ballistic missiles and should, therefore, be considered a threat to national security. Given the fact that Mr. Auguste was tasked with conducting export control reviews, he felt he was simply doing his job. His supervisors, who wanted to allow foreign countries to obtain military-related technology, disagreed. Mr. Auguste was told to put aside his technical concerns and take "political and economic" factors into consideration when conducting his reviews. When Mr. Auguste bravely refused these corrupt orders, he was fired in October 2000. Judicial Watch now represents Mr. Auguste in his "whistleblower" claims before Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), the same entity reviewing JW's case on behalf of INS whistleblower Rick Ramirez. The MSPB is the agency that adjudicates certain whistleblower claims by federal employees. "Mr. Auguste should have been hailed as a guardian of our national security," said JW President Tom Fitton. "Instead, Bill Clinton's and Al Gore's henchmen considered him an obstacle to their scheme to sell out our national defense for campaign contributions."
