Clinton Chronicles:
Top Secret Docs Show Clinton Bombing Helped Hussein

CIA documents obtained by Judicial Watch in a FOIA request reveal that the Clinton Administration’s bombing of a Sudanese pharmaceutical plant only served to strengthen Saddam Hussein¹s position in the Arab world.

According to the formerly "top secret" report, "The US military strike [August 20, 1998] against the al-Shifa plant in Sudan has fueled Arab perceptions of US hostility toward Muslims, increasing the political risk to US allies of siding with Washington to renew pressure against Saddam."

Clinton was heavily criticized at the time for using the bombing to distract from the ongoing, and heavily embarrassing, Lewinsky scandal that plagued his Administration at the time. The former president claimed the plant was tied to Osama bin Laden, however the Sudanese maintain the facility was nothing more than an aspirin factory and most analysts now believe the bombing was a mistake.

"These newly released documents prove that Clinton’s ‘Wag the Dog’ bombing helped Saddam bolster his regime on the world stage and further enabled him to conspire with bin Laden to commit the worst attack on America in the nation¹s history," said JW President Tom Fitton.
