JW, Barr Seek Justice Against Clinton & Cronies
Files “Related” Complaint to Include Clinton, Carville and Flynt

Congressman Bob Barr was an obvious target for the Clinton administration. An outspoken proponent of truth and justice and an outspoken critic of Bill and Hillary Clinton, the Georgia conservative spearheaded the effort in 1999, with Judicial Watch’s help, to have the President impeached for his many crimes. Retaliation from Bill Clinton and his henchmen was swift and severe.

Congressman Barr alleges that the Department of Justice and the FBI used government-acquired information to smear the Congressman’s good name in an effort to interfere with his duties and responsibilities during the House impeachment proceedings. Judicial Watch filed suit on Congressman Barr¹s behalf in 1999 and filed a related complaint in March of this year in order to add Mr. Clinton, James Carville and pornographer Larry Flynt to the list of defendants.

According to the complaint, Carville, with Bill Clinton¹s approval, allegedly provided Flynt with government information on Congressman Barr for the purpose of producing a 27-page attack piece in Flynt¹s Hustler magazine.

"Congressman Barr is a true hero, a great American who will not be intimidated by the likes of Clinton, Carville and Flynt," said JW President Tom Fitton. "Judicial Watch will do everything in its power to assist him in achieving justice." Larry Klayman, JW Chairman added: “Congressman Barr is one of the few in our government willing to take on the high political elites who break the law. He is a national treasure.”

Statement by Congressman Bob Barr

For eight years, the Clinton Administration attack dogs, James Carville, and their Hollywood friends, like pornographer Larry Flynt, employed slash and burn, guerrilla warfare tactics in an attempt to intimidate and bully those focused on upholding the rule of law and ending government corruption. Time and again, truth, integrity and the rule of law took a back seat to intimidating political enemies abusing government power. While they may have succeeded in intimidating some people, they didn’t and won’t intimidate me. James Carville can preach his lies about people on television and Larry Flynt can print whatever he wants in the pages of his smut magazine, but at the end of the day, they are going to be held accountable. Their lies, smears and intimidation will end, and I look forward to this case moving forward.
