Judge Rebukes Administration Orders White House to Turn Over More Documents on Energy Task Force
Judge Emmet Sullivan was in no mood for tricks of the political trade on August 2. Per the request of Judicial Watch, the Judge had ordered the Administration on July 11 to turn over more documents pertaining to who attended their Energy Task Force meetings. The Administration failed to obey the order, and Judge Sullivan wanted answers.
When Justice Department lawyers reverted to their tired old claim of Executive Privilege, Judge Sullivan was visibly frustrated.
"Your position seems to be ‘The government wins because the government says this is what happened, and no one can ask what happened,’" said Judge Sullivan. "Discovery is going to go forward in this case."
Judge Sullivan provided the Administration 30 days to turn over documents and written responses to questions posed by Judicial Watch with respect to the Energy Task Force meetings.
"We want all of the information on the Energy Task Force to come out as soon as possible," said JW Chairman Larry Klayman. "The Vice President borrowed a page from Hillary Clinton’s playbook when he organized secret meetings to establish national policy. The law says the meetings are to be open, and Judicial Watch will make sure the law is followed."
Judicial Watch has already secured the release of thousands of documents pertaining to the Task Force into the public domain.
