White House Obstructs Halliburton Lawsuit

Judicial Watch has served literally hundreds of complaints during its eight years as the nation’s True Independent Counsel. But never before has the organization encountered resistance such as that put forth by the Bush Administration.

According to an affidavit of "due diligence" filed in JW’s case against the Vice President on behalf of Halliburton shareholders, the process server who attempted to serve the complaint was threatened with arrest by a White House security officer.

According to the process server, the security officer said that "if I dropped them [the federal court summons and complaint], he would arrest me."

JW finally served Vice President Cheney and he now must respond to this lawsuit by September 30. (The Vice President was ultimately served through the law firm of Williams and Connolly, which is also the law firm for Bill and Hillary Clinton.)

Halliburton allegedly engaged in fraudulent accounting practices while Vice President Cheney served as the company’s CEO. Evidence suggests the Vice President was aware of the plot to artificially inflate Halliburtonąs stock price. The Vice President refuses to answer questions as to whether or not Halliburton’s accounting practices would hold up under investigation.
