Cuba Docs Sought by JW

Would the United States allow agribusiness corporations to sell millions of dollars of food to Saddam Hussein? Would the United States hold a food exhibition in Baghdad, with 300-plus American corporations participating? If Hussein admitted to murdering Americans who were on a humanitarian mission, would the United States fail to retaliate?

Certainly not. So why are the answers different for Cuba and Fidel Castro? Both countries are on the State Departments list of state sponsors of terror. Both have expressed a desire to destroy the United States. And both countries are run by murderous tyrants. Yet while the rhetoric with respect to both nations is similarly strident, U.S. policies toward each are starkly different, with Cuba reaping the rewards of leniency. JW aims to find out why.

JW recently filed a FOIA with Jeb Bush’s office in Florida, seeking all documents pertaining to Castro and to communications between the governor’s office and The White House. When the Governor failed to comply, JW was forced to file suit under Florida’s "Sunshine Laws."
