Judge Sullivan to Energy Task Force: No More Delays
Justice Department lawyers once again refused to produce documents regarding the Vice President’s Energy Task Force, and once again they lost their legal fight against JW.
Judge Emmet Sullivan ruled November 27th that the Bush Administration’s request for alleal of the court’s repeated orders to produce documents were denied. Judge Sullivan stated that the “Defendants have fallen fall short of demonstrating that the questions of law presented by the challenged orders arise under such exceptional circumstances as to warrant disruption of the favored process of appellate’s review following filed judgement.”
The court has ordered that the Administration review the documents and turn them over to JW on December 9.
“It’s time for the Bush Administration to cojme clean. If they have nothing to hide, they have nothing to worry about,” said JW Chairman Larry Klayman.
JW sued the Energy Task Force under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which requires that all policy meetings with White House outsiders be open to public scrutiny. Hillary Clinton ran afoul of this law with her infamous Health Care Task Force.
