Hillary Uncovered Key Evidence in the Case Against Hillary
Access to information is vital to Judicial Watch’s efforts to
hold politicians accountable for their actions. Following are documents
and photographic evidence obtained by Judicial Watch during the course
of its investigation of Hillary Rodham Clinton¹s illegal Senate
campaign fundraiser in August of 2000.
Background
In August of 2000, just prior to the Democratic National Convention,
Hollywood elites gathered in Los Angeles for an event designed to
pay tribute to outgoing President Bill Clinton, while also raising
funds for Hillary Rodham Clinton¹s New York Senate bid. The
Clintons and their campaign staff had induced Peter Paul, then co-founder
of Stan Lee Media, to underwrite the event. Mr. Paul kept his end
of the bargain, financing a star-studded celebrity gala to the tune
of $2 million -- the largest single contribution to a Senate campaign
in American history. Hillary Clinton failed to report the campaign
contributions generated from the event to the Federal Election Commission
(including Mr. Paul’s $2 million, plus an additional $1.5
million raised that evening) a serious violation of election law.
Mr. Paul is currently in a Brazilian jail cell awaiting extradition
for alleged stock fraud charges. Upon his return, the case will
continue. Meanwhile, Mr. Paul seeks to cooperate with the Justice
Department having already provided evidence that could eventually
land the Clintons in prison. Following are actual copies of written
and photographic evidence compiled by Mr. Paul, and provided to
Justice Department investigators.
Key Documents
* Handwritten Letter from Bill Clinton
* Handwritten Letter from Hillary Clinton
* Bank Statement
* Photos
Relevance
After the event, when allegations of campaign finance fraud began
to surface, Hillary Clinton not only denied that Mr. Paul had financed
and hosted the event, she also stated on multiple occasions that
she and her husband did not know Mr. Paul personally. As the handwritten
notes, photos and bank records clearly suggest, the Clintons had
intimate knowledge of Mr. Paul’s role in producing the event,
and further had established a personal relationship with him.
Update
On June 18, the Los Angeles Times reported that the federal investigation
of the Clinton fundraising event was heating up. Investigating authorities
have focused attention on Aaron Tonken, the Clintons’ volunteer
Hollywood talent coordinator and fundraiser. Tonken was among the
team of individuals that persuaded Mr. Paul to underwrite the event.
The recent spike in interest in this matter on the part of the Justice
Department follows a campaign by Judicial Watch to push Congress
to probe why justice officials are dragging their feet on the investigation.
A Brazilian court recently ruled that Mr. Paul can be extradited
to the United States. Upon his return, Judicial Watch’s legal
actions against the Clintons will continue.
