Federal Investigators Push Campaign Finance Case Against Clintons Peter Paul to Return to United States
Many Americans may not know the name Aaron Tonken, but if recent media
accounts are correct, he is a key witness in Peter Paul¹s campaign
fundraising case against Bill and Hillary Clinton. According to the
August issue of Vanity Fair and the July 20 edition of the Los Angeles
Times, federal investigators have focused on Tonken's connection to
an August 2000 Hollywood fundraiser financed by Stan Lee Media co-founder
Peter Paul on behalf of Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign. Tonken
claims to have been the man responsible for connecting the Clintons
with Mr. Paul.
"I'm a star witness against the President," the Hollywood
fundraiser was recently quoted as saying in Vanity Fair.
Tonken claims to have given crucial testimony to federal investigators
probing possible criminal activity on the part of the Clintons.
The fundraising event, attended by Hollywood stars such as Brad
Pitt, Cher and John Travolta, cost Mr. Paul $2 million and brought
in an additional $1 million in contributions. The Clintons failed
to report these contributions to the Federal Election Commission,
a serious violation of the law. Key elements of Peter Paul's case
were confirmed by both Vanity Fair and the Los Angeles Times. For
example, the LA Times notes a blatant attempt by Hillary Clinton's
national finance director, David Rosen, to bully Peter Paul into
writing additional checks as costs associated with the gala skyrocketed.
"Guess what Peter. If you don't come up with the money, we'll
just call it off," Rosen told Mr. Paul according to Stephen
M. Gordon, former Vice President of Stan Lee Media. Hillary Clinton
has publicly denied even knowing that Mr. Paul was involved with
the event.
Both Paul and Tonken continue to cooperate with authorities. Mr.
Paul is awaiting extradition from Brazil so he may continue his
case against the Clintons.
