Peter Paul Back in U.S. Poised to Push Case Against Hillary

After two years of languishing in filthy, dangerous Brazilian jail cells, Peter Paul is back on U.S. soil and ready to take Hillary Clinton to court. U.S. authorities recently completed Paul's extradition.

"Judicial Watch is pleased to have Peter back in the United States -- finally," said JW President Tom Fitton. "He hopes to cooperate with the Ashcroft Justice Department and is fully prepared to present his case against Hillary and Bill Clinton in a court of law."

In August 2000, Paul, the former Clinton fundraiser and co-founder of Stan Lee Media, bankrolled a star-studded celebrity fundraiser to benefit Hillary's 2000 New York Senate campaign to the tune of $2 million. Clinton never reported Paul's contribution to the Federal Election Commission - a serious violation of the law.

In June 2001, while cooperating with investigative authorities in the Clinton matter, Paul was indicted on alleged stock and bank fraud charges and arrested by Brazilian authorities pursuant to a U.S. extradition request. At the time, Paul was conducting business in Brazil, where he remained until just weeks ago. Now he is back in the United States to face the charges against him, while pressing his own against Hillary Clinton

Paul has the hard evidence to prove his case in the form of bank records, videotapes of the event, and personal handwritten "thank you notes" from the Clintons expressing their gratitude to Paul for his role in organizing the fundraiser. Also in Judicial Watch's possession is a fax dated August 20, 2000 from David Rosen (National Finance Director for Hillary Clinton's campaign) requesting the transfer of shares from the Stan Lee Media to Hillary's campaign account.

"The Clintons will lie, deny and stonewall as they always do in an attempt to escape justice and accountability, but in this case the evidence is irrefutable," said Fitton.

Though Paul is now back in the United States, his departure from Brazil was not without complications.

The Brazilian Foreign Minister notified U.S. authorities more than five weeks ago that Paul's extradition had been completed. Inexplicably, the U.S. Embassy in Brazil failed to arrange for his delivery to the United States. In the interim, Paul was transferred to a maximum security penitentiary in Brazil, nicknamed the "Corridor of Death," where more than 16 prisoners were murdered within the last year alone.

News of Paul's return comes just weeks after Vanity Fair and the L.A. Times reported that another former Clinton fundraiser, Aaron Tonken, has provided damaging testimony against the Clintons with respect to their fundraising practices.

"I'm a star witness against the President and Mrs. Clinton," claimed Tonken, who allegedly worked for Paul to orchestrate the Clinton Hollywood fundraiser.
