Few whistleblowers have received more abuse than Linda Tripp, the courageous woman who exposed President Clinton's adulterous affair with intern Monica Lewinsky.
During the course of its Filegate investigation, Judicial Watch uncovered a campaign by Pentagon officials to destroy Ms. Tripp's credibility by releasing information from her Privacy Act-protected personnel files.
Ms. Tripp recently, and finally, earned a successful resolution to her Privacy Act, and other claims, against the Pentagon. The settlement includes a payment of $595,000 and a retroactive promotion and retroactive pay at a higher salary level for 1998, 1999, and 2000. Pentagon officials were forced to concede they had violated the Privacy Act, despite the repeated denials by the Clinton Administration.
Ms. Tripp is a plaintiff, and a key witness, in Judicial Watch's Filegate lawsuit filed on behalf of former Reagan and Bush (I) administration staffers whose FBI files were illegally obtained and misused by Clinton officials at the direction of Hillary Clinton. Her settlement preserves her right as a plaintiff in Judicial Watch's Filegate litigation.
