Sheriff Department With Morals

Well known for its great beaches and scenic coastline, north Florida’s Pinellas County is making headlines because the sheriff created a unique rule to clean up unethical behavior among his 3,200 employees.

Pinellas County Sheriff Jim Coats will suspend all deputies who get caught cheating on their spouses or sleeping with another person’s spouse.

Coats implemented the rule, partly because he doesn’t want relationships to develop that are immoral or unethical, but also because the high number of deputy-involved cases of adultery have led to 911 calls recently.

Apparently, the sheriff wants to live up to the department’s motto that reads, in part: We value ethical behavior at all times. Our conduct is based upon a commitment of trust, integrity, accountability, and respect.
