Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is being investigated for abruptly firing the state’s public safety commissioner because he wouldn’t get rid of a state trooper who had gone through a bitter divorce with the governor’s sister.
As the mayor of Wasilla, the Republican governor had written a letter of recommendation for her ex brother-in-law (Mike Wooten) to get the trooper job in 2000, but her sister went through a nasty divorce and custody battle in 2005 that some say led Palin to push for the trooper’s firing.
The governor’s sister, Molly McCann, continues to have a hostile relationship with her former husband and recently called 911 because he would not return their young children to her. The family’s dirty laundry was aired this month when, for no particular reason, Governor Palin fired Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.
Palin said she got rid of Monegan because she wants the department to go in a new direction, but the fired commissioner says he got the boot because he wouldn’t fire the governor’s ex brother in law. In fact, Monegan said that Palin and her family have been pressuring him to fire the trooper since she took office in December 2006.
This week a bipartisan council of Alaska legislators ordered an independent investigation into the matter, which has become somewhat of a scandal in a state already plagued with public corruption at various levels of government. Taxpayers will dish out $100,000 for the probe, which will hopefully expose any abuses of power or improper actions by members of the state’s executive branch.

The Debunked "Troopergate Scandal" - Palin Remains Popular!!!
"A poll conducted last week by the Hays Research Group shows that Gov. Palin's approval rating is still an astronomical 80%!
So much for the thoroughly debunked "Troopergate scandal". That horse is dead, so we're going to stop beating it."

Taxpayers will dish out $100,000 for the probe... The best spent $100,000 ever! You could help this situation. Sorry to break the news, but Sarah Palin is a unethical, vindictive, hateful and incompetent fool. With subject lines like "Fagan," "Andrew Halcro" and even "Alaska Ear," it makes some wonder how those topics could possibly be policy related; especially since those same e-mails were copied to the governor's husband.
The story keeps getting bigger and bigger for the case of "abuse of power" by Sarah Palin. She is presently under investigation by the Legislature of Alaska.
Has anybody seen Mr. Open and Mrs. Transparency?
Two weeks ago we posted a few emails that were obtained by two different groups that had filed a freedom of information act request. Only some of the emails were released along with a 78 page list of emails that were not released due to executive privilege.
Last night, KTUU News ran a story about the emails and reported:
"E-mails from the Palin administration are being withheld from the public and the governor is citing executive privilege.
With subject lines like "Fagan," "Andrew Halcro" and even "Alaska Ear," it makes some wonder how those topics could possibly be policy related; especially since those same e-mails were copied to the governor's husband.
The administration says public employees need to know they can debate openly amongst themselves."
Debate amongst themselves? What pray tell would they be debating about some of those above referenced subject lines?
After all, it's not like the "Alaska Ear" is a confidential state policy that needs to be vetted before being released to the public.
But more importantly, the governor now paints a very hazy line where by simply classifying a communication as a need to openly debate could trump any freedom of information request.
Lets face it, these subjects don't rise to the level of executive privilege, and if these emails are ever released they'll simply show a bunch of high school sophomores including the governor bitching about people who have had the audacity to openly question her administration.
In one email that was released, the governor actually calls yours truly a "dumbass."
Not only does it highlight the lack of class that Palin has, but it's totally ironic coming from a governor who last week on national television answered a question from the host by saying, "I can't answer that question until someone answers for me what is it exactly that the Vice President does."
Seems the governor needs to repeat her sixth grade civics lessons.
During the KTUU interview last night, Governor Palin - whom you might recall ran on a platform of open and transparent government - said the emails were all "much to do about nothing."
Well governor, if they really are much to do about nothing as you say, then release them and stop hiding behind executive privilege.
In the meantime, we regret to inform Alaskans that Mr. Open -Todd Palin and Mrs. Transparency- Sarah Palin have died in a tragic email accident.
