State Commission Protects Illegal Immigrants

A Connecticut state agency that ensures citizens’ access to public records has ruled that its second-largest city doesn’t have to disclose information relating to controversial identification cards designed to help illegal immigrants integrate into city life.

About 6,000 New Haven residents—mostly illegal immigrants—have obtained the city’s official municipal identification cards and one group wants more information on the cardholders. The state’s Homeland Security chief (James Thomas) ordered the city not to release the information because it could put cardholders in “harm’s way.”

More importantly, Connecticut’s Homeland Security chief used the same pathetic argument that sanctuary cities across the nation love to cite when they refuse to enforce immigration laws; it will destroy crucial cooperation between the growing illegal immigrant community and police. So the official in charge of guarding the state’s security endorses protecting undocumented aliens who live there illegally.

Connecticut’s Freedom of Information Commission agreed with its Homeland Security chief, ruling that the records are indeed exempt from disclosure. The five-member state agency administers and enforces the provisions of the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act and supposedly ensures citizen’s access to public records.

The decision is being legally challenged by a group that claims the city’s interpretation illegally expanded the categories of exemption allowed under the state’s Freedom of Information Act. The suit points out that only records, whose disclosure would result in a threat to certain government and public utility facilities and their occupants, are exempt from public scrutiny.

New Haven is a criminally lawless city.

It doesn't matter,Legally, what this State Commission rules. It doesn't matter that New Haven beurocrats have been passing out I.D. cards to illegal aliens. Both entities are flat out violating existing immigration law. The citizens of New Haven should be calling for the arrest of all of the people involved, who have decided to violate existing immigration law. There is no excuse.

Freedom of Information

Officials that take it upon themselves to decide what public information is classified are using tyrannical power to abuse our freedoms. I'm sure none of these records have been declared closed because of National Security. Fire these power heads and put responsible people in their place. We don't need a police state protecting illegal immigrants, for Pete's sake. What incompetence!

State Commission Protects Illegals Immigrants

I, as a US born citizen do not enjoy the right to lie when dealing with the system. These illegals do have the right to lie.' I think this point is what creates a lot of resentment against illegals. You almost feel like a sucker for being a U.S. citizen. If I crash into someone's car, the cops have 10 ways to hunt me down. If I show up at the ER with no insurance, the hospital has 20 ways to track me and chase me to the end of the earth to pay my bill. If I lie and send my kid to another district's school, I can be found out 30 different ways. But with illegals, they can lie, lie, and lie ('Send the bill to J Gonzales, 1 Main Street, Anytown, America'), and no one can hold them to any obligations.
I'm sick and tired of hearing how we harass immigrants legal or illegal. Take a trip outside of America and see how many times you're asked to show your passport and visa. We are the most relaxed countries. Even local police in other countries will ask for your passport. You show them, they smile and say thank you. In the US, they scream harassment. Illegals are use to showing identification in their country, but don't expect it from us. As for illegals trusting to talk with police. They didn't trust their own cops and what makes you think they're trust ours.

Living in Mexico

Just try getting a job in Mexico. You have to pay taxes if you take up living there, but you are not allowed to have a job of any kind. Just take a look at the paper work you have to fill out just to live in Mexico. Do you think you can enter there country illegally. Not a chance! America needs to wake up!
