August 20, 1999
The Honorable Dan Burton
Chairman
Committee on
Government Reform
2157 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-6143
Dear Chairman Burton:
Yesterday we hand delivered a copy of our complaint (attached, without exhibits) to the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct concerning Congressman Henry Waxman and other involved Democrats. We respectfully request, pursuant to Rule 16(d) of the Rules of The Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, that you certify this complaint in order that the investigation can proceed expeditiously.
This is a matter of extreme public importance. Given your criticism of Congressman Waxman and the Democrats on your Committee, as having obstructed your Campaign Finance/Chinagate investigation, we expect that, on behalf of the American people, you will support our complaint fully.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter, and please have one of your staff confirm to us by close of business tomorrow, August 20, 1999, that you have forwarded the certification to the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.
Sincerely,
JUDICIAL WATCH, INC.
Larry Klayman
Chairman and General Counsel
