I'm sick and tired of hearing how we harass immigrants legal or illegal. Take a trip outside of America and see how many times you're asked to show your passport and visa. We are the most relaxed countries. Even local police in other countries will ask for your passport. You show them, they smile and say thank you. In the US, they scream harassment. Illegals are use to showing identification in their country, but don't expect it from us. As for illegals trusting to talk with police.
