Ethics Complaints and Investigations – Representative Gary Condit

Former Rep. Gary Condit (D-CA)
In July 2001, Judicial Watch filed a formal complaint against then Rep. Gary Condit (D-CA).  During the investigation into the disappearance of Chandra Levy, an intern who met Condit while she was working at the Bureau of Prisons, Rep. Condit intimidated witnesses and asked his former mistress, Anne Marie Smith, to lie in an affidavit and to investigators.

Condit’s actions not only violated the rules of ethics set forth by the House, but also violated the trust of the public – especially Chandra Levy, whose life was likely put in further jeopardy because of Condit’s betrayals.
