Lois and Ruth had the honor this last week testifying
ashington before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee Crime and Terrorism. The topic was political campaign activity 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations that signed IRS tax filings stating that they would not intervene, had not intervened, candidate elections.
The point the hearing was see whether the (c)(4) officers had made false statements under penalty perjury tax returns and could criminally prosecuted. explained how difficult this would under the IRS multi -factor "issue advocacy" rules and its vague "facts and circumstances" approach judging cases political intervention. The Chairman, Senator W-RI), and discussed whether the "less than primary" amount political activity
hitehouse permitted for (c)(4) organizations should reduced "insubstantial." Although precise percentages have never been officially set for those concepts, this could lower the limit from 49% 10%. oral testimony appears the webcast the hearing the Senate Judiciary website, along with full written statement, here
http://www.judiciary.senate.gov/hearings/hearing.cfm?id=2c79a170440dcdca9be971883a73cb83 wrote supplemental statement that will included the record the hearing, attached. continue optimistic about what you could improve law enforcement this area. best,
