From the Desk of
Judicial Watch President Tom
Fitton:
Dear
Friend,
We won a battle in the fight
against illegal immigration. You see, just a few
weeks ago, town officials in Herndon, Virginia closed its
taxpayer-funded llegal alien day labor
site.
This victory comes nearly two
years after Judicial Watch sued the town of Herndon and County of
Fairfax over the legality of its illegal alien day labor
site.
Make no mistake about it – the
Herndon government’s decision to throw in the towel and shut down
this mecca for illegal aliens (and for the employers who break the
law by hiring them) is due directly to our historic lawsuit.
Judicial Watch filed this lawsuit
on behalf of taxpayers in the fall of 2005. Our lawsuit galvanized
public opposition to the Herndon illegal day labor site. As
a result of the ensuing court battle and controversy, new
political leadership was elected to run the Town of Herndon on the
promise to shut down the site. Today that promise is
fulfilled.

Judicial Watch mounted the first legal challenge in the nation to
day laborer sites and “sanctuary city” policies. And
we won!
Had Judicial Watch not sued town
officials over the fundamental constitutional principle that
taxpayer funds should not be spent to further illegal activities,
this unlawful site would undoubtedly still be in business.
Just think, if
Judicial Watch had not acted, the town government would still be
aiding and abetting the criminal hiring of illegal aliens.
Now that we have won,
politicians across America are on notice that
they face lawsuits and other challenges if they use taxpayer
dollars to help illegal aliens find illegal work in contravention
of federal and other laws. This lawsuit has effectively
changed the course of debate in our nation about day laborer
sites.
And now we are headed for
a key court battle again in Laguna Beach, California
against the City’s use of taxpayer funds to bankroll an illegal
alien day laborer site. We are now preparing for final court
arguments next month on behalf of Laguna Beach taxpayers.
That’s why I am asking for your
help today by making a tax-deductible contribution to Judicial
Watch for $25, $50, $100
or even $250. Like
Herndon, our Laguna Beach lawsuit costs real money to pay our
lawyers and other litigation expenses.
In addition, our taxpayer lawsuit
against the Los Angeles Police Department is scheduled for trial
next June. There, we are battling to overturn policies that
prevent the Los Angeles Police Department from enforcing
immigration laws and from cooperating with federal immigration
authorities. This politically-correct “sanctuary” policy
violates our nation’s laws against illegal
immigration. And ACLU lawyers are opposing us in
this case as well.
Right now, Judicial Watch is
conducting investigations and other legal battles against illegal
immigration in at least sixteen different states, including
Arizona, Oregon, Washington, New Jersey, New York, Florida, Texas
and Maryland.
That’s why I ask you to consider
making a special gift today of $25, $50, $100
or even $250. Your
generous support will allow Judicial Watch to continue to stand up
for you and other taxpayers across the nation against illegal
immigration (and continue our anti-corruption work against
politicians like Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid).
Because of you, we
were able to stay the course and win in
Herndon. With your continued support, you’ll help
us carry out our fight in Laguna Beach, Los Angeles and dozens of
other towns and cities across America. If you can, will you
make a gift of $500 or even
$1,000?
