Judicial Watch obtained documents from the FBI, under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA"), which detail some of Sen. John Kerry's anti-war activities during November 1971. The records include FBI agent reports and surveillance reports detailing some of Kerry's activities as national spokesman for Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW). The reports also document contacts between VVAW leaders and the Communist Party USA, as well as planned, Communist-financed, trips to Paris for "peace talks" with North Vietnamese officials; as well as other VVAW efforts supporting military personnel who "refused to serve in wars of aggression." The documents contain references to Kerry and the controversial "Kansas City VVAW meeting," that recent media reports allege involved discussions by VVAW leaders of a plot to assassinate US Senators.
