Washington, DC -- November 12, 2009

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against Chicago Mayor Richard Daley's office to obtain records related to the Obama administration's failed bid to bring the Olympics to Chicago. President Obama tapped White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett to lead the Olympics effort, despite her personal and business ties to Chicago, which included a stint working for Mayor Daley. The Obama White House granted Jarrett a conflict of interest "ethics waiver" to allow her to serve as "Olympics Czar," despite her having personally led the Olympics bid for Chicago before entering the White House. (Other potentially conflicted White House officials with Chicago-ties include Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Senior Advisor David Axelrod.)

ACORN Sues U.S. For Cutting Funds

Last Updated: Thu, 11/12/2009 - 12:42pm

The fraud-infested nonprofit whose public funding was recently slashed by Congress amid mounting corruption scandals is suing the U.S. government in an effort to reverse the legislation that cut the flow of federal dollars.

A renowned criminal enterprise, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) claims that banning it from receiving federal aid violates the U.S. Constitution because it unfairly singles the group out for punishment. The congressional resolution cutting its taxpayer funding constitutes legislation that illegally targets one group, according to ACORN’s 35-page lawsuit filed in a New York federal court this week.
