After having read the article linked above, I would like to applaud your sponsorship and the passing of this bill.
I support Legal immigration & a better way of life for people, but uncontrolled border crossings presents one of the great problems facing our country.
Great Americans such as yourself are too few of late, and it makes me proud to see that some of our elected representatives are still standing up for the American way of life and doing the right thing regardless of pressure from businesses that profit from cheap labor.

Repatriated Mexicans
If Mexico is having problems with that we should do what I have telling every one! We have lots of big and medium sized boats. Repatriate them at a port in far southern part of the Country of Mexico, that way they have a very long walk back to the US border.
Well, they are your citizens, right?
I find it baffling that the people of Mexico seem to accept mass immigration to the U.S and subsequent remittances as the solution to their woes. The solution to Mexico's problems cannot be solved by the U.S., but rather only by Mexicans in Mexico. It's a good example of how well ingrained the belief is that they cannot solve their own problems.
They never seem to have an issue marching in the U.S. for entitlements they haven't earned and don't deserve. Why won't they march and demand change in their native country, for which the demands are at least justifiable?
The bottom line is that Mexico has grown too dependent on us to pay for their issues. They complain of our notion to build a fence, yet ask for billions to secure their Southern border. They demand that we offer humane treatment to immigrants when they won't offer it to their own people. Our Federal Government has lacked any political will to address the security of this nation while spending 720 million a day in Iraq.
The result is that cities are dealing with it on their own, failed miserably by the Federal Government. These new laws are a blessing and proof that enforcement through attrition works. For those in Mexico I recommend getting out those picket signs and start marching for change THERE!!!
Repatriating to Mexico
So, Mexico's official is shocked a law would be passed to enforce our immigration laws? Because we're actually ACTING like every other nation on the planet, INCLUDING MEXICO by removing people that don't legally belong in our country?!
Now, Sonora is complaining about the same problems(overcrowding in schools) we have faced. Why is it unreasonable for Mexico to bear the cost of educating its own citizens. Yes, it's truly baffling! Why would we want to redirect our teachers efforts from kids that don't understand the language or even "value" an education (check the drop-out rates) and get little, if any reinforcement about the importance of education. What possible sense does it make to focus on kids that WANT to learn?

This is the funniest news bit I've read in ages. So, Mexico isn't happy with all the Mexicans? They're upset because their people are coming home and it's causing a strain. Gee, they didn't seem to have much concern over the strain their illegals put on this country.

They miss the remittances sent from the U.S. as well as smaller class sizes in local schools." Ah, well, too bad...Americans are celebrating the newfound abundance of jobs and smaller class sizes in local schools.
"...their beloved state cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools resulting from illegal Mexican workers returning home." And yet Arizona taxpayers could handle the demand for housing, jobs, and schools resulting in the influx of illegal Mexican workers coming to Arizona. And, Arizona was prepared for the “tremendous problems” it faced as more and more Mexicans came to Arizona and stole money from American taxpayers to sending money to their families in Sonora?
Another member of the Mexican delegation, Representative Florencio Diaz Armenta, asked “what do we do with the repatriated?” I'll tell you Senor Diaz Armenta, put the repatriated to work building houses, schools, shopping centers, etc., in Sonora.
What a bunch of hypocrites in Mexico...fix your problems, don't send your problems to Arizona to become problems for LEGAL, TAX PAYING AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Mexico is a chronically corrupt nation, where according to a recent Gallop poll, almost HALF OF MEXICO wants to leave and "head north".

The Sad Thing
Is that Mexico is a rich country and could fix its problems tomorrow if they would only take some responsibility for their own people. They could start by reforming their property laws so that people from the USA and elsewhere in the world could own property on their coastlines. This would set off a building boom that would create millions of jobs in construction and later in servicing the new costal communities. It would create a tax base that would finally allow Mexico to educate its children. Mexico just needs to pull its head out of its nether regions and look at the possibilities that are open to a country with its incredible natural wealth.

Mexico has a single, streamlined law that ensures that foreign visitors and immigrants are:
in the country legally;
have the means to sustain themselves economically;
not destined to be burdens on society;
of economic and social benefit to society;
of good character and have no criminal records; and
contributors to the general well-being of the nation.
The law also ensures that:
immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor;
foreign visitors do not violate their visa status;
foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country’s internal politics;
foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported;
foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported;
those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison.
Who could disagree with such a law? It makes perfect sense. The Mexican constitution strictly defines the rights of citizens -- and the denial of many fundamental rights to non-citizens, illegal and illegal. Under the constitution, the Ley General de Población, or
General Law on Population, spells out specifically the country's immigration policy.
It is an interesting law -- and one that should cause us all to ask, Why is our great southern neighbor pushing us to water down our own immigration laws and policies, when its own immigration restrictions are the toughest on the continent? If a felony is a
crime punishable by more than one year in prison, then Mexican law makes it a felony to be an illegal alien in Mexico.
If the United States adopted such statutes, Mexico no doubt would denounce it as a manifestation of American racism and bigotry.
We looked at the immigration provisions of the Mexican constitution. [1] Now let's look at Mexico's main immigration law.
Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society:
Foreigners are admitted into Mexico "according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress." (Article 32)
Immigration officials must "ensure" that "immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance" and for their dependents. (Article 34)
Foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence upsets "the equilibrium of the national demographics," when foreigners are deemed detrimental to "economic or national interests," when they do not behave like good citizens in their own country, when they have broken Mexican laws, and when "they are not found to be physically or mentally healthy." (Article 37)
The Secretary of Governance may "suspend or prohibit the admission of foreigners when he determines it to be in the national interest." (Article 38)
Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country:
Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities upon request, i.e., to assist in the arrests of illegal immigrants. (Article 73)
A National Population Registry keeps track of "every single individual who comprises the population of the country," and verifies each individual's identity. (Articles 85 and 86)
A national Catalog of Foreigners tracks foreign tourists and immigrants (Article 87), and assigns each individual with a unique tracking number (Article 91).
Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned:
Foreigners with fake immigration papers may be fined or imprisoned. (Article 116)
Foreigners who sign government documents "with a signature that is false or different from that which he normally uses" are subject to fine and imprisonment. (Article 116)
Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:
Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117)
Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118)
Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa may be sentenced to up to six years in prison (Articles 119, 120 and 121). Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico -- such as working with out a permit -- can also be imprisoned.
Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says,
"A penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine of three hundred to five thousand pesos will be imposed on the foreigner who enters the country illegally." (Article 123)
Foreigners with legal immigration problems may be deported from Mexico instead of being imprisoned. (Article 125)
Foreigners who "attempt against national sovereignty or security" will be deported. (Article 126)
Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law:
A Mexican who marries a foreigner with the sole objective of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison. (Article 127)
Shipping and airline companies that bring undocumented foreigners into Mexico will be fined. (Article 132)
All of the above runs contrary to what Mexican leaders are demanding of the United States. The stark contrast between Mexico's immigration practices versus its American
immigration preachings is telling. It gives a clear picture of the Mexican government's agenda: to have a one-way immigration relationship with the United States.
Let's call Mexico's bluff on its unwarranted interference in U.S. immigration policy. Let's propose, just to make a point, that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) member nations standardize their immigration laws by using Mexico's own law as a model.

Mexico should have to be the ones who provide for their own people. Maybe it wouldn't have been such a shock to them if they had to subsidize the costs for their people living here in the first place. They should be responsible for educating their own. They should be the ones who pay for the court and prison costs for their own. They should pay for the healthcare for their own. They should also be the ones who provide for the dependants of their citizens born abroad.
I personally don't care what it costs Mexico. They should be teaching their people english in kindergarten. They should be teaching these people about birth control and paying for it. If it is such a problem for them why do they think that it should be something that they think should be passed on to another country to deal with?
They should support their own. Not pass the buck to us.

Take all those that are returning to your country and re patriate them to Spain. This way they won't have a language problem or won't have to assimalate into another society. They are already there.

Leticia Amparano Gamez her fellow legislators have a lot of nerve complaining about the new law. Why should we be stuck paying for their countrymen? They need to get off their dead asses and improve their own economy. And stop spitting out more mexicans. Try a little birth control for once!! Then maybe they wouldn't be so overcrowded! There is no need for people who can't feed themselves to have so many children in each family that they also can't feed or educate. They need to spend more time on their feet working and less time on their backs procreating.

Effect of Arizona Illegal Immigration Law
Interesting... Vincente Fox called Mexican illegal immigrants to the US heroes. However, if the heroes go home, they are not wanted because of the same problems that their presence causes in the US. If Mexico had been dealing with its economic problems before, it would not have this mess now.
A parent must deal with the issues and problems of their child. So it goes that a country has to deal with the problems of its citizens. Mexico has no problem deporting illegal immigrants from it's country. They send them back to have their problems dealt with by the country of origin. Mexico must deal with the problems of its "heroes" instead of encouraging them to take themselves and their problems to the US illegally.

The American people's tolerance for illegal immigrants, which some estimates put at about 20 million nationwide, has simply run out. Mexico is not a poor country, it can afford to take care of their own people and they should. It is not America's responsibility. American taxpayers have been footing the bill for too long, now its Mexico's turn.

What I find is hypocrisy is thinking it is OK for Mexicans to ignore our Immigration laws but not others. If we are to have no Borders or an Immigration policy then there are 100,s of millions in China, India, Africa and many other Nations around the world that would like the same rights. If it is OK for Latinos to pour across or borders then we should let anyone and everyone in the world irregardless of skills, education, race, nationally, diseases etc. to have the same rights to pour into this Nation. Of Course, that would self correct in a very short most would be looking for some country to immigrate to escape the Crime, Pollution, and third World living standards! if we have no borders or an Immigration policy then there are 100,s of millions in China, India, Africa and many other Nations around the world that would like the same rights. If it is OK for Latinos to pour across Someone on here has spoke of hypocrisy and racist feeling toward Mexicans. What I find is hypocrisy is thinking it is OK for Mexicans to ignore our Immigration laws not others. If we are to have no borders then we should let anyone and everyone in the world irregardless of skills, education, race, nationally, diseases etc. to have the same rights to pour into this Nation. Of Course, that would self correct in a few years and most would be looking for some country to immigrate to escape the Crime, pollution, and third World living standards!
To put it bluntly without being PC the problem with Mexico is Mexicans. In hundreds of years the only type of society they have been able to build is a Cesspool of Crime, Corruption, Poverty, Misery and Cruelly! Look at their sports, Bull fighting, Horse tripping, Dog Fighting, Cock fighting, & of course rape is a great sport for the young men. Which you would think would hardly be necessary since sex is legal with 12 year old girls there. It would seem that would be enough like rape to satisfy even the most jaded! Not surprising as more Mexicans that come to this country the more like Mexico we become! In the long run it is either good or desirable for us or the world to allow Mexico to turn this country into another Third World Country. If any more proof is required look at the Border cities, they are as different as night and day. Obviously the land is the same so how to explain the poverty on the Mexican side other than Mexican culture?

Its a shame that bush is so fixated on fighting global terrorism that he completley ignores the illeagal immigration problem, which wil ultimately destroy our country. Comming from a border state you would think that he would understand the problem better, or maybe he does but has another reason for not securing our borders. I give bush a failing grade, and ufortunately history will be written by our enemies.

hooray for Represenative Russell Pearce and Sheriff A. they are to be commended they are two of Arizona's heroes - I wish more of our elected officials would follow the example of these two brave leaders. We fought long and hard to win this state from Mexico, and if we do not follow suit of Representative Russell Pearce then Mexico is going to win it back without so much as firing a shot. They have such a strong hold now that everything is changing to even having double languages on everything we purchase.
English should be our primary language and if you want to become a citizen then you should have to learn it. Along with going into the military for at least 3 years. Then once you have fought for this country you have earned the right to be here and recieve all that she has to offer.
The money it would cost to deport illegals for be a savings to what it costs us now in benefits that they recieve.

Illegals returning to Mexico
It's about damned time! ENFORCEMENT WORKS! I'm a Florida resident and we have six bills in the House that are just being allowed to "die." The speaker and several key leaders of Hispanic descent have stated publicly that they are children of immigrants and these are "human beings",etc., etc. Yes, and so?!? They are breaking the law and you are allowing it! Please, anyone in the US, call FL State Rep. Frank Attkisson at 850-488-8992 and tell him that you want to see the illegal immigration bills passed into LAW before this legislatiave session ends on May 2nd. They're just allowing these bills to die and it's a shame. GA just cracked down on illegals and guess where they going to move to?!? FLORIDA! Thanks.
